About
Giclee Printing
| THE DEFINITION :
The French word "giclée" means a spray or a spurt of liquid. The word has been derived from the French verb "gicler" meaning "to squirt".
THE TECHNIQUE : Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, photo and fine art acid-free paper. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.
THE QUALITY: The quality of the giclee print rivals traditional printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries.
FRAMING: When framing your Giclee Prints, unroll them carefully if they came in a tube and put them on a flat surface with a weight on each corner to flatten them, or bring them in their tube or envelope to your favorite frame shop, and ALWAYS make sure that the matting and/or backing will be ACID-FREE cardboards for fine art. It's very important for your prints (even the back of them) to be in contact only with acid-free materials so that their quality and durability stay optimum.
COMMENTS :
All the Giclee Prints are available in the actual size of the original, but not only that size. Some small paintings can be enlarged very nicely and all large ones can be scaled down and still be striking, even more so if you put a mat around them!
They are shipped to you either rolled in a tube or flat in a sturdy envelope depending on their size.
Framing by the artist is available on request for the smallest sizes, which permits you to order a gift and get it shipped directly to the person's address ready to display...you just have to contact Emmeline for any special request.
The editions are not limited in numbers but most large prints are touched up and always signed over again.
Also contact Emmeline for special orders in quantities and/or sizes.

Internet and Giclée printing are two modern tools that dramatically
improve
the odds for artists to be largely known by and accessible to art
lovers and
therefore permit more of them to make a living with their work; if you
like
what you see, you can share it with your friends anywhere and be part
of
this process in a significant way, that's the magic of the Web !
